At Motor Yard Kenya, your safety comes first. While we work hard to keep our platform secure, it's important to stay cautious when meeting someone to view or buy a vehicle.
Here are a few tips we recommend:
Meet in a public place.
Choose a busy location like a shopping center, petrol station, or police-designated safe zone. Avoid secluded areas or private residences.
Bring someone with you.
Whether it's a friend, sibling, or colleague — there's safety in numbers.
Avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
Use mobile money like M-Pesa or make a bank transfer instead. It's safer and leaves a traceable record.
Check the paperwork.
Ask to see the logbook, ID, and any other relevant documents. Make sure the seller really owns the vehicle.
Be alert during test drives.
Only agree to test drives after verifying identity, and always choose a route you’re familiar with.
Remember — Motor Yard Kenya connects people, but we don’t inspect or sell vehicles ourselves. Trust your instincts, and don’t be afraid to walk away if something feels off.
